Things to do in Key Largo

Key Largo is the first of the Florida Keys on the Overseas Highway, about an hour's drive from Miami International Airport (MIA) once you clear the Homestead traffic. This is where a Keys trip usually gets decided: rent a car and keep driving south toward Islamorada and Marathon, or stop here and spend the day on the water.

The main draw is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, with snorkelling trips and glass-bottom boat tours over live coral reef running roughly $45 to $90 per person depending on the operator and boat size.

Remember the drive is on the right-hand side, and the Overseas Highway keeps going south past Islamorada and Marathon all the way to Key West for anyone continuing on.
