Things to do in Marathon

Marathon sits roughly midway along the Overseas Highway, past Islamorada and well short of Key West, and it works best as a stop rather than a straight drive-through.

The Seven Mile Bridge is the landmark here, with the older span now a fishing and walking pier alongside the active roadway, and the Turtle Hospital runs guided tours (booking ahead recommended) explaining rescue and rehabilitation work on injured sea turtles.

Snorkelling and fishing trips around the bridge and nearby reefs run from small operators; treat any quoted price as a range and check the current figure on the GetYourGuide or Viator listing before booking. Remember to drive on the right.
