Things to do in Miami

Miami sits on the mainland side of Biscayne Bay, and the city itself is really a scattered set of districts: Downtown and Brickell, Little Havana, Wynwood and the Design District, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, each with its own feel and each covered in more depth on its own page here. Seeing more than one properly takes a few days, not a single afternoon stop between a cruise and the beach.

Flights land at Miami International (MIA), west of Downtown and linked by Metrorail; once in the city, the free Metromover covers Downtown, Brickell and Omni, with Metrorail and rideshares filling the rest, so a car isn't necessary here the way it is for the Everglades or the Keys.

One correction worth making early: Miami Beach, across the causeways on its own barrier island, is a separate city, not a Miami neighbourhood.
